Tour of America’s Dairyland – Milwaukee, WI

These guys were going 30mph for 90 minutes… Ah! Being around that kind of energy was insane! I’ve only photographed a cyclocross race before out at Trek in Waterloo, WI so I wanted to try shooting a bike race competition. This was day 10 of the Tour of America’s Dairyland.

Shadow Armada 2015 – Summer Fest

I usually shoot video in the middle of the huddle before each show. Below is part of my brother, David’s speech before the Summer Fest show in Oregon Sunday night.

“Every year it feels like it’s not just a brand new year, it’s a better year. It’s a better year because of what you guys are willing to give feels like more and more every single time we come out. It’s insane how much can happen when everyone is going for it and when everyone wants it. It’s not just important to do the job for you, doing the job for you is actually probably the least important thing. You do the job for the people you’re standing right next to because for some of them this is their last home show and you want it to mean something. You want them to look back and think 2015 wasn’t just an amazing season, that 2015 home show felt like I was out there doing it for the people who were aging out that night. That’s why you do the job. That’s why you stay on drum major, that’s why you push energy, that’s why you push style, that’s why you play dynamically, that’s why you do all of those things, because those people would give anything to do this one more time, and they won’t get to.” – David Henzie-Skogen

Anthropologie Summer Fashion Show in Madison, Wisconsin

I’ve always dreamed of photographing for Anthroplogie so when I received the referral from Laura Zastrow (THANK YOU!!) I couldn’t pass it up! They hosted a summer fashion show at the Madison store… So. Much. Fun. but a little overwhelming! Everything in every direction looked so good! Here are some of my favorites.

Shadow Indoor Percussion – “This is Water”

Shadow Indoor Percussion is an ensemble from Oregon High School in Oregon, WI that competes at WGI World Championships. The 2015 group was overjoyed with their results, as during the season they were promoted to a national class (Independent Open) which includes almost exclusively college-age performers. They completely expected not to make finals, up against some 36 other older groups (only the top 15 make it). But they did make it, coming out above about 25 other ensembles to place 11th…an astounding end of the season. The kids felt like the mighty ducks! It definitely marked a new high point for the program. Even competing with performers mostly aged 18-22, they did an amazing job, exhibited an incredible amount of class and humility, and came home feeling like champions.

All of the images can be seen here.

Sauk Creek Alpacas

Lynne said goodbye to her 17 alpacas Saturday afternoon. She’s had them for quite some time and is ready for her next chapter in life. I’ll always admire her commitment and dedication to these amazing and quirky animals. She’s the most sincere and caring woman and would do anything for her “girls” as she would refer to the majority of them.

I found out Friday that they were leaving so I instantly asked Lynne if I could photograph her with them for the last time. There may be a few tears still wet on my face from looking at the images. Ah, change. I feel for Lynne.

The gang is still together down at a farm in Illinois; the best situation knowing they have each other.
